Unique Event Ideas

Would you like to make your wedding or office party something to remember? Here are a few ideas that will make your event stand out:

Develop Tasting Menus
High-end restaurants and Tapas bars have been offering tasting menus for years, and the trend has recently carried over to weddings and other catered events. Try pairing four or five smaller-sized courses with different wines. Many reception menu items work well in this format. Just ask for tasting menu item suggestions.

Serve Healthy Menu Items
Include some vegetarian and organic options as well. Just make sure that dishes are flavorful and nicely presented. Vegetable and Fruit Kabobs are always a hit!

Include Some Pre-Event Items
Set up reception tables with assorted olives, spreads, dips or other shareable gourmet snacks as a way of welcoming guests for a pre-function reception. The idea is to have guests munching and mingling before the buffet opens.

Creative Combos
Pair hors d'oeuvres with miniature-sized beverage shots that enhances those flavors. It's a fun way to give the cocktail hour a more festive feeling. Think cocktail fajitas served with a mini-margarita, pulled-pork sliders accompanied by a shot of bourbon, mango-salsa-topped empanadas served with sangria shooters and chicken satay skewers served with a shot of flavored sake.

Over-The-Top Dessert Displays
Give your guests their sugar fix by offering more than the wedding cake. Try an extensive display of dessert shots, cake pops, chocolate dipped goodies, over-the-top cupcakes and even nostalgic candies.

Butler Passing Service
Want a truly elegant party? Try replacing a buffet or sit-down meal with a dinner made up of small, multiple courses served by a butler in a lounge-like setting. Guests can grab a quick bite between songs and head right back out to the dance floor rather than having to wait at their seats for the next dish to arrive. This type of menu is typically a bit less expensive than a buffet or site down dinner, but the service style is very stylish and creates a real wow factor.

Unique Action Stations
Mashed-potato bars and quesadilla stations are still reception favorites. Try out trendier items such as a macaroni & cheese bar, peanut butter sandwich station or a nacho bar with gourmet guacamole, artisanal salsas and other fancy fixings.
