Fruit Carving Tips
Fruit Carving

Impress your guests with a beautiful fruit carving that looks like a pro carved it!

The ideal basis for your fruit art creation is a watermelon or any other type of melon.

All it takes is a few cuts and some prepared fruit salad to fill it with, and you're on your way to your first fun party fruit carving centerpiece.

You'll need:

  • A medium to large watermelon (or other melon type)
  • Sharp knife (dull knives are dangerous!)
  • A non-toxic marker
  • Metal spoon
  • Fresh berries and/or fruit salad
Fruit Carving

  1. Cut a thin piece off the bottom of the watermelon so that it sits flat on a plate without rolling.

  2. Use the marker to make your design on the watermelon and cut around until pieces separate easily.

  3. Carefully cut the fruit away from the basket "handle" and scrape away any remaining fruit with your spoon.

  4. Next, hollow out the basket (keep some of the removed fruit to be used to refill the basket if desired).

  5. Add fresh grapes, cherries, pineapple chunks and/or melon balls, or use a prepared fruit salad to fill your basket.
